Rainbow Six

Goblingee's Rainbow Six Revival.

"A zombie of a game"...

All these Zombie games out there, Dead Island, DayZ, WarZ, Black Ops 2, Walking Dead and many more bring to mind a game which in it’s self has become some what of a zombie in it’s own right. I say zombie because the game and in-fact the series is still clinging to life with a few die hard original R6 fans still hammering it out on various mods over long forgotten networks on the internet. The question is “should this particular zombie be brought back from the brink and made to live again in all its former glory?”. It is the firm wish of many fans of the old series that Rainbow Six Patriots, due for release in 2013 will offer this although UBI are keeping a firm lid on things at the moment.

There are many people out there now who think that Rainbow Six began with the release of Vegas in 2006 on Xbox 360 and then later the same year ported to PC (a very strange way of doing things) however the story goes back much further than Vegas.

In 1998, under the direction of Redstorm Entertainment founder and author Tom Clancy, was born the legend in gaming history that is Rainbow Six. Although there were many changes to the game during production which was originally to be based on hostage rescue in the US, the game was later changed to follow the book that was being written at the time by Tom Clancy under the name Rainbow Six. The book told the story of an international anti terror organization known as Rainbow, based in Hereford England, home of the SAS and comprising of operatives from many of the Nato countries and their allies.

Originally built and released on pc in 1998 and later ported to Playstation, Mac, Nintendo 64 and others as a finished, working game, Rainbow Six was not only groundbreaking in it's playability, outstanding graphics and in-game audio effects but also created an entirely new area within the first person shooter genre. We now had the ability to plan our attacks in massively open maps and select a team of operatives with their individual skills, classes and weapons to create a team that the player felt was best for the mission at hand.

The plot:

Some bad guys are going to do some bad things and you have to stop them… Well there is more to it than that but you will just have to play the game or watch my walkthrough series to find out.

The gameplay consisted of 5 parts:

1 the briefing phase

2 team selection and outfitting

3 planning your mission

4 action phase

5 gloat
